2007-07-07 2007-07-07N734GR (C172N)1V6-KLXV1.21.21.21Mark, Stephanie and I depart on our Mountain Flying expedition. We flew up to Leadville, leaving at 6:00 am and flying at 12,500 msl. Took about 10-15 minutes circling the field to get to altitude. We were getting anywhere from 200 to 300 fpm. Gorgeous country. Head winds most of the way up but otherwise a great flight up to Leadville, CO.N734GR (C172N)1V6-KLXV1.21.21.2174.1Mark, Stephanie and I depart on our Mountain Flying expedition. 2007-07-08 2007-07-08N734GR (C172N)1V6-BGD2.42.42.41Mark, Stephanie and I depart Colorado for our trip home. It's a sad day! We don't want to leave the mountains, but at least we get to fly again. Tailwinds and Good grounds speeds all the way to Borger, Tx. for our Fuel Stop. Turns our to be more than a fuel stop. We have a Brake/Wheel problem while taxing back for take off. We shut down on the taxiway and call for asistance. The right main brake disc is warped or out of alignment, causeing major wobble and shaking and at time it catches on the wheel pant mounting. No obvious damage at all. unable to push or tow plane back to ramp. We had to remove the wheel pant and Brake Caliper for the brake disc to clear enough for us to tow the plane back to the ramp, very slowly. It's sunday, No A&P on duty. Hangar the Aircraft and have to drive to Amarillo, Tx for a one way rental car to return to the Dallas, Tx area. Walt flew us back to Borger in his aircraft and then Mark and I did a good thorough preflight of 734GR and departed to go home.
