VOR radial intercepting and tracking under the hood. Unusual attitudes. Slow flight and stalls. Simulated engine out. Short and soft field takeoffs and landings. Short approach.
Noticed the alternator wasn't charging the battery during run-up. Did one trip around the pattern to see if it would come alive, but it didn't. Cleaning the terminals and tightening them on the ground fixed it, but Scott had left by then.
First solo in 4WR. Didn't latch door properly and it popped on takeoff. Had to slow down on the way home to get the requisite 2.1 for my 25 hour insurance requirement before carrying passengers.
Picked up the parents in Concord for a sightseeing flight. Mom freaked out during any >10 degree bank turn, and asked to turn back when we hit some bumpy air.
Flew 4WR down to Riverside for annual with Paul McCracken. David Zensius came along. Performed a GAMI Lean Test on the way down. Misheard the tower frequency and had overflown the field before fixing it and making contact.
Mike Boich flew David and me back from RAL in his amazing Eclipse 500. He let me have about 10 minutes of stick time during descent before he took over at 650'.
Labor Day trip with Adam Heder and Nate Tanner. Circled Hearst Castle on the way down. Tried to get into Oceano (L52). Snuck in under the fog, but did a go-around and decided to bail. Went to SBP for lunch instead. Borrowed a crew car there and drove to Avila Beach.
Did the VOR approach for 13 at SNS, circled to land on 26. On the way home we did the ILS into Moffet and broke off to PAO. Had to go around at PAO, then overfly the field and make left traffic, because the pattern was so full. Eventually I was #4 to land and on final we saw 4 planes lined up on the parallel and 3 in the run-up waiting to takeoff on 31.
Adam Heder and I met our families in Half Moon Bay for the pumpkin festival. We saw Jassen outside the HMBFC hangar about to fly 82U with a student, so I took the opportunity to show off 4WR to him.
